Lafayette Germanium Transistor Stereo Amplifier LA-85T recapped plays well

This has been completely recapped with new-stock electrolytic capacitors.  Several germanium transistors were replaced with NOS Germanium transistors.  Unit is completely functional and looks great.  I just played it for an hour at full volume.  It is completely stable.  I repair and restore these for fun and for the experience.  Although there are many examples of mid-1960s Lafayette Germanium transistors amplifiers on eBay, I have yet to see a fully restored example.  If you want one of these, bear in mind that almost every electrolytic capacitor is electrically leaky and way out-of-spec after 60 years.  ALL film and electrolytic capacitors will have to be replaced.  The PC boards are crowded.  It's a challenge!  Also, if you have any bad germanium transistors, these can be hard to find.  I replaced a few.
Germanium transistors were noted for having more background hiss than later silicon transistors.  This example is typical of the period.  Please remember you are buying a vintage design!
In addition to replacing capacitors and transistors, I replaced the power cord and thoroughly cleaned the switches.
